Toshiba Camileo X100 Flash Memory Camcorder

Camcorders today are moving away from the complex, mechanical, tape-based systems of the past. With improvements in video technology, such as HDTV, and online digital video tape has become about as appropriate a storage system as the wax cylinder. My apologies to the current tape-based video recorders but I stand by my statements here.
So Toshiba has come out with their latest entry the Camileo X100 … is this going to rule the world or rue the day? Let’s get into it.

Overview

Compact, lightweight and in full-HD, the new Toshiba Camileo X100 with 3″ touch-screen LCD lets you enjoy state-of-the-art technology with a choice of 1080p/30fps or 1080i/60fps True High Definition Video and sharp 10 MegaPixel digital still photos.

Zoom into amazing detail with 10X optical/10X digital zoom and video stabilization, the X100 has 4 different record settings: Macro mode for close up shots, Motion Detection mode for surveillance, Slow motion for sports, and Time Elapse mode. The internal 4GB memory offers room to capture many precious moments. For additional recording time, simply add a SD/SDHC memory card with up 32GB capacity for up to 5 additional hours at 1080p, or 12 hours at the lowest setting. And since you can charge the X100 with a standard USB cable, you won’t need to bring any extra cables or power adapters on the road. At only 9.5 oz you will hardly know you are carrying it.

Share with friends and family can’t be easier. The YouTube™ hotkey allows you to instantly upload movies: simple use for the entire family or watch them directly on your big screen with the included HDMI™ mini cable.

Real Full-HD Camcorder

With the Camileo™ X100 camcorder you will enjoy state-of-the-art technology with the ability to choose between 1080p/30fps or 1080i/60fps High Definition video and take sharp 10 Megapixel digital still images. Any way you choose your videos and images will look lifelike on any screen you decide to view them.

Now this isn’t a professional grade camcorder but it’s pretty damn good for a consumer device. You’re recording up to the highest HDTV resolutions so you can also get video for your Blu-Ray disks if you’re into making those as well.

Full 10 MegaPixel Picture Camera

Sure it’s a great video camera – but can it take still photos so I don’t have to pull out my camera or mobile phone? Well, actually, I don’t know why anyone would really say that but yeah, this takes really nice 10 MegaPixel still images and it’s got a built-in flash as well. It’s pretty much the vacation all-in-one camera.

Zoom Lens – a Real Zoom Lens

Get in close with the 10x optical zoom with video stabilization and relive your experience on the large 3-inch diagonal touch-screen LCD. Get the shot with 4 different recording modes: Macro mode for close up shots, motion detection mode for surveillance, slow motion for sports and time elapse mode.

This really is the big area that stands out over the Flip Video stype pocket video cameras. Not only does this have better resolution but it has REAL lenses. This is the key for me here. I really love the pocket cameras but with them I’m constantly agonizing over not being able to zoom into the action. Or control the focus.

Expandable Storage

The internal 4 GB memory offers room to capture countless precious moments or increase recording time by using SD/SDHC memory cards up to 32GB (not included). Each 32GB card will record an estimated 5 additional hours at 1080p or 12 hours at the lowest setting giving you great flexibility with recording time. The X100 also charges with an included USB 2.0 cable so you won’t need to bring extra cables or power adapters on your travels. At only 9 ½ oz you will hardly know you are carrying it. It’s not pocketable, unless you’re wearing cargo pants, but it’s small and light!

Share with Friends and Family

The on the camera YouTube™ button allows you to quickly upload movies: simple use for the entire family. You can also choose to watch your movies directly on your High Definition screen with the included HDMI™ cable or even convert your images to watch and store on your computer or any mobile device. For me this isn’t a huge seller but it is nice for some.
